Fried Panko Shrimp on Skewer
For best results –
- Dust the food or vegetable in DRY Upper Crust Tempura Batter mix and shake off excess.
- Dip in prepared Tempura Batter made with water or other liquid such as beer, club soda, etc.
- Generously roll in Upper Crust Enterprises Panko breadcrumbs. The coated product can be pre-staged and prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
- Deep fry in hot oil - 350° until done.
For a lighter, healthier flavor, bake the coated product in a 350° oven. When baking drizzle a small amount of oil on top prior to baking, this will provide a golden brown color to the baked Panko.

Panko Topped Mac & Cheese
To use Japanese bread crumbs as a crispy top crusting for fish, just lightly mix Panko with olive oil or melted butter, Parmesan cheese, lemon pepper, and garlic, until it’s texture is like wet sand. Gently press seasoned Panko mixture on top of salmon or halibut and bake at 350º until done. The result is a crispy-top crusted fish that was easy and customer pleasing.
To make a salad topping, sauté Panko in oil or butter until brown and toasted, add parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and black pepper. Set aside and use as needed to add crispiness to salads, pasta or vegetables.
